Shreveporters Among The Least Likely To Stand By Their New Year’s Resolution
The year is coming to a close, and like clockwork, the people of Shreveport are planning their New Year's Resolution for 2025. But just how likely are Shreveporters to keep their resolutions?
New Year's in Ratchet City
Every year we tell ourselves that next year will be different, that next year we will hit the gym every week, or that we will stay on our diet, save more money, or maybe get out and date. Well just as we tell ourselves we will do these things, it's common that most people don't keep up the effort by the end of the year.
Sometimes people give up on their resolution because they're tired of it or they just forget, but another reason may influence how hard it is to keep your resolution, and that's where you live.
Shreveport the 2nd hardest City in America for New Year's Resolutions
Out of the 182 largest cities in America, Shreveport ranks as the 2nd worst city for people trying to adhere to a New Year's Resolution.
A report from WalletHub outlines that Shreveport is a difficult place for people to keep their resolutions because the city ranks low in measures of health, finances, education, work, relationships, and bad habits (like lack of sleep, gambling disorders, overdose instances, etc).
Is it Me?
So why do we struggle to keep resolutions? Of course, the reasons outlined above are a factor but Mark Muraven, Ph.D. and Professor of Psychology at the University at Albany, suggests that people "often set too loft of a goal or too abstract of a goal," he suggests setting smaller goals and focus on one goal at a time, "Time, energy, and money are all limited, so pick the most important or most feasible goal."
