Cara Watson of Shreveport, LA got her golden ticket last night (Thursday, January 23rd) on American Idol Season 13 and she's heading to Hollywood! Congrats Cara, we're behind you 100%, make us proud!

Cara received her golden ticket at the Atlanta Idol auditions. Cara explained the reason why she auditioned was to 'take her singing career to the next level.' She described her audition as exciting even though the judges were critical of her performance. Watson says her musical influences are Aretha Franklin and Michael Jackson. She feels her 'big voice and phrasing' makes her unique. She says she's the next American Idol because she is determined, works hard and feels like America will love her style and voice.

We were able to find a review of Cara's performance locally in Fame by the Academy of Children's Theater on a Shreveport blogspot. The performance took place at the Marjorie Lyons Playhouse. 'Willie' Trey Jones was also a part of the production.

The last several years have proven that Shreveport/Bossier City is a hotbed of musical talent with Shreveport native Willie Jones appearing on The X Factor USA and Dez Duron and Cole Vosbury on The Voice. It just goes to show what we've always known, the Shreveport/Bossier City area is special and packed full of untapped talent!

American Idol airs locally Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7pm on our media partner, KMSS Fox 33.
