"Saturday Night Live" came to primetime to celebrate their 40th anniversary and brought record-breaking ratings along with them!

The all-star event racked up 23.1 million viewers and a not-too-shabby 7.8 rating in the 18-49 demo, making it NBC's highest-rated primetime program (not counting post-Super Bowl programs) in eight years.

The pre-show red carpet special drew 11.1 million viewers and a 3.0 rating.

The other networks definitely felt the heat from this one, especially CBS, whose possible final episode of "CSI" and "60 Minutes" (featuring late correspondent Bob Simon's final report) scored record-low ratings.
