The first Winter Storm of 2021 has arrived in the Shreveport and Bossier City areas. There was a lot of debate over whether or not the storm system would bring enough snowfall to cast accumulations in the area, and early into the system, it appears there will be plenty of accumulation to go around.

Already in west Shreveport, there's roughly half an inch, at the time of this update, with much more coming down by the minute. Lawns are covered, street signs are starting to snow over, and the sky is still full of flurries.

The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Ark-La-Tex, from the Louisiana-Arkansas state line, all the way south along the Louisiana-Texas state border. With areas like Texarkana having a Winter Weather Advisory issued.

According to the National Weather Service projections, the Winter Storm Warning areas will see 2-5 inches of snowfall from this system, with locally heavier amounts possible. The Winter Weather Advisory areas can expect up to 2 inches of snow, with again locally heavier amounts possible.

In addition to the warning and advisory about the winter weather, the National Weather Service also has come Flood Warnings in the area as well. Most notably for Bodcau Bayou at Bayou Bodcau Lake in Webster and Bossier Parishes. This particular Flood Warning went into effect on Sunday, January 10th, and will remain in effect until further notice.
