SPD Catches Alleged Convenience Store Robber
Shreveport Police have caught up with a man accused of robbing a Circle K overnight.
Officers got a call just after 12:30am at the store in the 2000 block of Bert Kouns on reports of an armed robbery.
Here's more information from the police department:
Patrol officers and a Shreveport Police K9 responded to the scene. Through their preliminary investigation officers learned that a man armed with a handgun entered the business and demanded money from the clerk. An undisclosed amount of money was taken and the suspect fled the business on foot. The police K9 was used to track the suspect to an address in the 1100 block of Japonica Lane.
Members of the tactical unit responded to that home in Southern Hills with a search warrant. That's when 18-year-old Carlos Giles came outside and surrendered to police. No one was injured during the arrest.
Detectives believe Giles is responsible for this morning's holdup and another robbery of the same store back on May 6th. During that holdup, the robbery walked into the store with a gun and demanded cash. A customer was shoved to the ground during the incident.
Giles now faces 2 counts of armed robbery and other charges are likely.
