SPD Union Boss Calls for New $18 Million Dollar Police Complex
Troubles at Shreveport Police Headquarters have been widely reported. The air was out for several weeks. The bathrooms are in poor repair. Many plumbing issues have caused problems throughout the building. No there are concerns about possible mold, and black mold at that, which can be deadly.
We caught up with Sgt. Michael Carter who is President of the Shreveport Police Officers Association to ask him if these concerns about mold could be real.
Carter says he does have a plan. He's proposing a new police complex that will cost in the neighborhood of $18 million dollars. He says the project can be funded through a bond issue. He says it's time to move forward with this and stop delaying efforts to modernize and build a complex that is secure and appropriate for use as a police headquarters.
