Stoner Hill Shooting Victim Named
A long evening of violence in Shreveport Tuesday night. An Officer involved shooting ended in a death in Cedar Grove at 9pm. A shooting death in West Shreveport is being investigated. Now a young man has been named as the victim of a shooting in Stoner Hill.
The young man was found wounded in a grassy area, not far from Caddo Magnet in Stoner Hill. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
Caddo Coroner, John Prime released the name of the victim:
"A man found in the Stoner Hill neighborhood who succumbed to a gunshot wound has been named by the Caddo Parish Coroner's office.
Javarcya J. Smith, 20, was found in the 1600 block of Viking Drive by Shreveport Police officers who responded to a shots-fired call Tuesday, February 25, 2020. He was found just before 10:15 p.m. He was taken to Ochsner LSU Health hospital where he died from a gunshot wound to his chest.
Smith was positively identified through fingerprint comparison. An autopsy was scheduled through Ochsner.
The shooting remains under investigation by the Shreveport Police Department, to which media should direct further inquiries."
