Severe storms are bearing down on the Shreveport Bossier area. These storms are expected to arrive in the metro area tonight. The National Weather Service says there is an enhanced risk in northwest Louisiana during the evening and overnight hours.

Damaging winds and tornadoes are the main threats, with some large hail and heavy rainfall possible. We could see 1-3 inches of rain.

The Weather Channel reports this storm system will pose threats of damaging winds, large hail and tornadoes across the Ark-La-Tex as we wrap up the week.
These storms will begin to move through east Texas during the day Friday and drift to the east in the afternoon. S​trong to severe thunderstorms will be moving across the Texas panhandle and into central and east Texas. These scattered storms could produce damaging straight-line winds and possibly a few tornadoes.

Shreveport Bossier is in the path of this storm system which will also move through Dallas Fort Worth, Austin, Oklahoma City, Houston and San Antonio.

When Will the Storms Arrive in Shreveport Bossier?

At 4pm we should see some isolated storms.

We will see scattered showers arriving between 5 and 7pm. The storms and wind picks up by 7pm.

Our area should see strong storms arrive by 8pm and that will continue through midnight.

The storms will move out by about 3am Saturday morning.

Sunshine is expected to return by about 10am Saturday morning.

The Weather Channel also reports:

A strong tornado is possible in the area near the I-35 corridor from Dallas to Austin and extends east to southwestern Arkansas and northwest Louisiana. B​y late Friday evening, the severe weather should evolve into a line of thunderstorms from the Ozarks into coastal Texas and the threat should transition to damaging wind gusts and embedded tornadoes. Rainfall will be beneficial in drought areas, but some localized flash flooding can't be ruled out.

This storm system is also bringing colder temperatures. Our low temps Saturday night will dip into the low 50's.
