Around 10:00 pm Tuesday night, April 12, another violent storm moved into Northwest Louisiana, East Texas and Southwest Arkansas, leaving behind a huge path of destruction.

High winds were the major culprit bringing on the most destruction. It brought down trees and power lines in several areas of the Arklatex.

The Bossier Sheriff's Office reported around 11:00 pm Tuesday night they were dealing with the following issues:

• Powerlines down on Old Plain Dealing Road in Benton
• A tree fell on a home in Haughton
• Trees down on Hwy 157
• Trees down on West Jackson and Mahaffee
• A tree fell on the Bus Barn in south Bossier
• Tree down on Hwy 80 in Haughton that caused a wreck near Red Point Food Mart and Walnut Ridge Road

Nearly 50,000 Homes Are Still Without Power This Morning

Southwestern Electric Power Company, SWEPCO, has multiple crews out this morning working to restore power to tens of thousands of residents throughout the area.

As of 4:30 am on Wednesday, April 13, as the outage map below illustrates, SWEPCO is reporting that 47,583 customers are without power.  It appears the areas heaviest hit are in South Shreveport, in North Desoto parish and in the area between Longview and Kilgore, Texas.

The worst part of the news is that according to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, we could be in for another round of severe weather later today.

The Weather Channel is reporting for the Shreveport area to have an 80% chance of scattered strong thunderstorms today, accompanied by damaging winds, large hail and possibly a tornado with some storms.
