Emma Stone has come a long way from her La La Land character Mia’s humble barista origins: she’s now the highest-paid actress of this year, thanks mostly to last year’s Damien Chazelle film that rocketed her around the awards circuit last winter.
It’s been pretty slow-going for David Fincher-Charlize Theron Netflix drama Mindhunter, but an official premiere may at last have been uncovered. The new Fincher-directed series starring Jonathan Groff and Fringe alum Anna Torv has reportedly booked its fall debut.
As excited as we are for this summer’s Atomic Blonde — you can read our own glowing review from this year’s SxSW if you still need a gentle nudge — you’d think we’d be all over every new piece of footage from the movie. But it seems a few clips managed to slip through our fingers this past week, so I’m taking this opportunity to bring you back up to speed. Yeah, that’s definitely worth circling back a little bit for those of you who may have missed these clips.
Sometimes, news of new releases makes sense. Sometimes you can’t help but do a double-take. In today’s “Huh” news, Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen have both signed on to star in and produce a romantic comedy about a struggling journalist’s long-lived crush on his former babysitter, titled Flarsky.
Before you carelessly toss this news in the "obviously" pile, please remember all the reports of tension between Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy on the set of Mad Max: Fury Road — and all the interviews after the film hit theaters, where it seemed like Theron wasn't particularly eager to work on a sequel with George Miller. And while Hardy has signed on for at least two Mad Max sequels, Theron has not, which definitely makes her enthusiastic response to the prospect of playing Furiosa again pretty exciting.
