Some wounds not even Deadpool can heal. Almost one year after the the initial announcement, FX and Marvel confirm that Donald Glover’s Deadpool animated series is no longer in development.
As usual, Disney waited until late afternoon to make a major announcement, but it’s always nice to end the day with some awesome news. Today, it’s the full voice cast ensemble for The Lion King, Jon Favreau’s live-action (-ish) reimagining of the studio’s animated classic — and perhaps the most exciting project on their upcoming (and growing) slate of live-action remakes.
2017 is already half-over, though it seems only yesterday we learned that Donald Glover’s FX Atlanta would join Westworld in delaying its second season to 2018. Glover’s understandably busy in the meantime, but Season 2 production will apparently start next month, as Glover teases his controversial approach.
Still strongly beloved by 90's kids -- and even their kids -- in the two decades since its release, 'The Lion King' has proven it 'ain't no passing craze.'
So get ready for the best news you’ll hear probably all week. (Yes, I know it’s Friday, but I’m very excited and am losing the ability to process linear time.) Not only is Donald Glover voicing Simba in Jon Favreau’s live-action The Lion King, but none other than James Earl Jones will be lending his vocal talents to Simba’s father Mufasa.
