The 2016 Ghostbusters reboot managed to win over fans hungry for a new take on the memorable 1984 original. Though it wasn't necessarily a box office smash, Ghostbusters: Answer the Call, as it came to be known during its home video release, developed a fan base arguably as devoted as the original. Even with its cult following, there hasn't been much to get excited about in the year since the film released. Until this October that is, when a new comic series from IDW expands on the further adventures of everybody's favorite ghostbustin' gals.

There are two diverging narratives surrounding Paul Feig’s 2016 Ghostbusters remake. On the one hand, fans of the original films were irrationally upset to see Hollywood give their (suddenly untouchable) films an all-female cast. For them, the film was a deserved flop. On the other hand, countless stories were written about a new generation of female Ghostbusters fans who were thrilled to see the movie reach out to new audiences. These fans believe the movie did more than enough to warrant sequels. And while the box office numbers and critical scores didn’t signal the slam-dunk hit that most fans were looking for, it sounds like the producers side in the second camp, with Ivan Reitman promising earlier this year that he was hard at work weaving together a cohesive universe from the games, movies, and animated films.

While last summer’s Ghostbusters didn’t get off to a very auspicious start, due to “My childhood!”-wailing Internet trolls and bad box office numbers coupled with the fact that the movie has its hilarious moments but was just fine overall, that doesn’t mean we’ll never see Gilbert, Patty, Yates, and Holtzmann onscreen again. In fact, the studio has a number of films in development, according to Ghostbusters’ producer Ivan Reitman (who also produced the 1984 version).

There have been rumors since last fall that one particularly slimy character from the original Ghostbusters film would be returning for Paul Feig’s new film, seemingly confirmed by an IMDb credit. But then Feig went and did what J.J. Abrams tried to do with that whole Khan / Star Trek Into Darkness thing — he flat-out denied it, even though this was a pretty viable rumor about a character we all sort of expected would appear. Guess what? The rumor was true, and Ghostbusters star Michael K. Williams has confirmed it himself.

A few months ago Coca-Cola re-registered the trademark for Hi-C’s Ecto Cooler, the Ghostbusters-inspired drink that frequently hung out in your childhood lunchbox. With a new Ghostbusters movie on the way, that could mean only one thing: The return of Ecto Cooler. And while Coca-Cola has yet to make an official announcement, some new packaging has popped up online that suggests that Ecto Cooler’s return is no longer a rumor.
