In addition to (finally) premiering the first trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story, Lucasfilm is revealing all kinds of cool new details from the upcoming prequel / spinoff. Over the past week we’ve seen new images and posters, and learned quite a bit about the mysterious characters played by Emilia Clarke and Paul Bettany. With only a few months left until Solo hits theaters, a casting announcement is probably the last thing you’d expect.
As we all know, Thandie Newton is in the Han Solo movie. We don’t know who she’s playing, though a new image of her in costume with Ron Howard seems to be throwing us a hint or two.
The upcoming Han Solo spinoff would be remiss if it didn’t address the most famous of our dear smuggler’s exploits: that time he and the Millennium Falcon made the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs.
Another day, another tweet from Ron Howard on the set of the untitled Han Solo movie. This time, we get to see some actual footage! Well, not really. It’s a photo of actual footage, and a blurry one at that. But still, there’s plenty of room for some speculation, especially about where in the galaxy our heroes could possibly be.
Ever since he took over as the director on the standalone Han Solo movie, Ron Howard has been endlessly toying with Star Wars fans on social media. From set photos suggesting new characters to behind-the-scene looks at hyperspace travel, Howard seems to be doing his best to pivot the narrative surrounding Disney‘s latest Star Wars prequel from, “Wow, I can’t believe they fired those directors!” to “Wow, I can’t believe Ron Howard is being such a jerk on Instagram!” Seriously, Ron, would it kill you to show something up close for once?
