Shreveport Police Community Response Units conducted a traffic stop at College Street and Highland Avenue while conducting patrols in the area to deter violent crime.

Reports are saying that a man walking his children to school was shot in the chest by a person who was on foot.

This victim arrived in a private vehicle at Ochsner ER around 11:53 p.m.

Shreveport Police Department officers were contacted in reference to a report of a Home Invasion in the 1550 block of Parker Street.

Through further investigation, Means was determined to be a convicted felon from prior arrests for burglary and narcotics.

Officers responded in the direction of the shots fired and attempted to stop an individual walking in the area.

This call came into dispatch around 1:23 p.m. from the 600 block of Rainbow Drive, which is located in the Eden Gardens neighborhood.

SPD located multiple shell casings in the street and driveway of a residence along with a car that was shot up.

The victim reported that the suspect had intentionally used force on her, and officers observed visible injuries.

Further investigation into the matter revealed that Tyler was prohibited from possessing a firearm due to being a convicted felon for multiple narcotics offenses.

Responding officers found that the victim had been beaten in the presence of her 2-year-old son.

The victim reported that the suspect had battered her and her 12-year-old son.
