The rumors about "Gossip Girl" are true: Taylor Momsen is OUT as a series regular.

TV Line revealed late Monday that the temperamental teen star, who played Jenny Humphrey during the first four seasons of the CW young adult soap opera, will not return as a series regular during the fifth season. This follows her vastly reduced role in the past season as she took time off to work on her music career with The Pretty Reckless and create controversy.

In November, it was reported that she had been suspended from the show; CW countered that she was a regular, with a reduced role because of "creative reasons."

Just recently 17-years old, Momsen has performed in provocative, pant-less outfits and thigh high stockings; her "Makes Me Want To Die," music video raised controversy for the then 16 year-old's skimpy wardrobe and suggestive behavior. She's performed live in the same fashion, including flashing crowds.

Szohr, who played Vanessa Abrams, had a reduced role in season four, as well; she has a budding indie film career. Both stars will have the opportunity make guest appearances on the show going forward.
