
Teen Mardi Gras Shooter to Be Tried As An Adult in Shreveport

Jace Greenslate, the 16 year old suspect who is accused of shooting & killing a Texas teen during a Mardi Gras parade in Shreveport, is slated to be charged as an adult. The Caddo Parish District Attorney's office made the announcement today.
According to the DA's office, now been indicted for manslaughter charges and will face those charges as an adult.
The original incident happened during the Gemini Parade back on February 18th. According to Shreveport Police, Greenslate and other friends from east Texas had come to watch the parade outside Magnolia School of Excellence on Clyde Fant Parkway. The teens were "horseplaying" when the gun went off.
The victim, 15 year old Kip Lewis, was struck in the neck. The gun shot wound eventually lead to his death.
Right now, there's no word on a when Greenslate's trial could begin. Under Louisiana Law, this is the penalty for manslaughter: "Whoever commits manslaughter shall be imprisoned at hard labor for not more than forty years"
