KLTV reports The Texas state senate voted Tuesday to require all new school buses to come equipped with seat belts for the student riders. The vote came with an overwhelming vote of 25-6 in favor of the seat belts.  The bill now heads to the house for final approval before being sign in by the governor.

The bill doesn't include any extra state funding to pay for the seat belts but have said schools who cannot pay can opt out. The obvious plus side of this would be student safety but those opposed say it's money that is better used elsewhere.
