Thanksgiving Dinner in Louisiana Costs About $4.69 Per Person
This week, millions of families across the country will be sitting down to feast and give thanks. The traditional thanksgiving meal is supposed to reflect the bounty we are blessed with. While the amount and type of food might vary, the point of the meal is to remind of us all we have to be thankful for. That's why the meal is over-the-top, and as such is most likely one of the most expensive you'll make all year. If you live in Louisiana however, you'll be getting a bargain compared to the rest of the nation.
The annual report on the total average price of the Thanksgiving feast from the American Farm Bureau Federation has just been released, and the data says that this year the cost is up one whole penny at $48.91. That list includes enough turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, rolls with butter, peas, cranberries, a veggie tray, pumpkin pie with whipped cream, and coffee and milk for 10 people.
LSU AgCenter's Quincy L. Vidrine dug a little deeper into the subject in order to how close that number was for families giving thanks this Thursday in Louisiana. The findings give residents of the Bayou State a little more to be thankful for. According to hannahpub.com, Vidrine found that for the very same menu in Louisiana, the average cost was more than $2 cheaper at $46.87.
Granted, that number is significantly higher than last year's total of $45.11 - but it's still around $4.69 Per Person. As far as feeding a family goes, that price point is definitely another reason to be thankful.
