‘The Night Before’ Trailer: Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt Have a Very Raunchy Christmas
There is a lot to love in the new red band trailer for The Night Before, which feels like someone took a long look at the career of Seth Rogen thus far, selected everything about his work that people enjoy, and assembled it into one crazy package. This trailer has everything you’d come to expect from a Seth Rogen movie in the year 2015: drugs jokes, fear-of-growing-up jokes, bromance jokes, relationship jokes, unexpected sentimentality, and, of course, a cast that includes a whole bunch of people you really like.
Rogen, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Anthony Mackie star as three old friends who journey into New York City on Christmas Eve to hit up their favorite nostalgic spots before attending the biggest, craziest party in the city. Naturally, things don’t go quite right and there’s drugs, vomit, screaming and life lessons. It all looks very funny. More importantly, the fact that this the latest film from director Jonathan Levine (who previously worked with Gordon-Levitt and Rogen on the cancer drama 50/50) suggests that there is going to be a lot going on underneath all of the gags. Should prepare for the theater to get a little dusty? Probably.
Oh, and bonus points for the perfect use of Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball.” Here’s the official synopsis:
From Jonathan Levine, the acclaimed director of 50/50, comes the new comedy The Night Before. Ethan (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), Isaac (Seth Rogen) and Chris (Anthony Mackie) have been friends since childhood, and for a decade, their yearly Christmas Eve reunion has been an annual night of debauchery and hilarity. Now that they’re entering adulthood, the tradition is coming to an end, and to make it as memorable as possible, they set out to find the Nutcracka Ball – the Holy Grail of Christmas parties.
The Night Before opens on November 25, 2015.
