I am a zoo type of person. Whenever Tucker, the boyfriend, and I want to go out and do something rather than staying at home I always want to go to a zoo or an aquarium. I just love animals. I always have and I always will. Heck! I have a zoo in my apartment. I have the cat, dog, and handicapped mouse.

However, today I was checking out the news and my heart broke. Giraffes are on the extinction watch list. How awful is that? The worst part is that we are the reason for it. According to Jezebel, the human population in Africa has gotten larger and we have taken over large amounts of land for farming it is hurting them in the process.

“Whilst giraffes are commonly seen on safari, in the media and in zoos, people – including conservationists – are unaware that these majestic animals are undergoing a silent extinction,” said Julian Fennessy, co-chair of the IUCN’s giraffe and okapi specialist group told The Guardian. “It is timely that we stick our neck out for the giraffe before it is too late,” he said.

This breaks my heart. Out of all the animals in the world, we take down one of the most gentle.
