This Invention from a 5th Grader in Texas Could Save Children’s Lives [VIDEO]
A new invention from the mind of a 10-year-old boy could save the life of a child left in a hot car.
Softball. Science. Spice Girls. These were the things I was super into when I was in the 5th grade. I was certainly not coming up with inventions that could be lifesaving. Lucky for us, there are kids out there like Bishop Curry V in McKinney, Texas, who invented a device that could save the lives of children who are left in hot cars.
It's called Oasis.
According to NBC5 in DFW, the idea is to create a device that would attach to the top of a car seat. It would detect if a child has been left in the seat and proceed to blow cold air on the child until help arrives. Bishop came up with the idea after hearing about a young child dying in a minivan not too far from his home.
Bishop's father is an engineer for Toyota in Plano, Texas and says that this device has already garnered interest from the company. In fact, he recently traveled to Michigan to introduce his idea at a conference for auto safety. Don't be surprised if we see this for sale soon.
There is also a GoFundMe page set up to fund Bishop's invention.
