A North Shreveport toddler has been hospitalized in critical condition after being discovered unresponsive in a swimming pool at the child's home.

Authorities said Noah Pourteau was found by his mother in about 18 inches of water in the bottom of the pool.

The mother called 911 and performed CPR on the child, with the help of the operator. A Caddo Sheriff's deputy soon arrived and took over attempts to resuscitate the child, who was then taken to University Health Hospital.

At last report, the child is breathing through the help of a ventilator, but is beginning to take breaths on his own.
