The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for much of Northwest Louisiana Parish until noon on Easter Sunday.

This includes Bienville, Bossier, Caddo, Caldwell, Claiborne, DeSoto, Grant, Jackson, La Salle, Lincoln, Natchitoches, Ouachita, Red River, Sabine, Union, Webster and Winn Parishes. This watch also includes these counties in Northeast Texas: Anderson, Angelina, Brazos, Burleson, Cherokee, Freestone, Gregg, Grimes, Harrison, Henderson, Houston, Leon, Limestone, Madison, Nacogdoches, Navarro, Panola, Robertson, Rusk, Sabine, San Augustine, Shelby, Smith, Trinity and Walker.

The National Weather Service says the primary threats include:

A few tornadoes likely with a couple intense tornadoes possible Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph likely Scattered large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible

This storm system is becoming more organized by the hour and will be spreading east throughout the day Easter Sunday.

The tornado watch area is approximately along and 55 statute miles north and south of a line from 50 miles northwest of College Station TX to 70 miles northeast of Natchitoches.

A Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions.
