How many tropical systems have affected Louisiana's coastline this year? Two? Three? How about six. None of us want to see a seventh storm create havoc on our coast but the season runs through the end of November and we are still in one of the prime months for tropical systems to form. Which unfortunately has happened again.

The area of disturbed weather in the Caribbean Sea that we've been telling you about has finally earned the name Tropical Storm Gamma. It was forecast to do so and will likely impact Cancun, Cozumel, Playa del Carmen, and the other resort cities of the Riviera Maya for most of the weekend.

Tropical model guidance does move the system off of the Yucatan and into the Gulf of Mexico by early next week. However, the official forecast from the National Hurricane Center does move the center to the south and west over time which is away from Louisiana's coastline.

What happens after that, there is even more uncertainty. We will monitor the latest forecasts for you and show you what the models are guessing. But rest assured, as of now there is no need for any heightened concern along the northern Gulf Coast.
