Trump Address Chaos: Congressman Ejected, Johnson Slams Biden Speech
Tuesday night President Donald Trump gave a congressional address which saw one congressman removed from the chamber, a child inducted as an honorary secret service member, and one accidental moment between Speaker of the House Mike Johnson and Vice President JD Vance.
Speaker Johnson Takes Shots at Former President
Before the President began his address to Congress, VP Vance and Speaker Johnson took the stage to prepare, sharing a conversation before the President reached the stage.
JD Vance was filmed speaking to the House Speaker in front of a live microphone. The moment wasn't caught on TV, but some individuals within the chamber managed to get a video of the interaction.
The Vice President can be heard telling the Speaker "By the way, I think the speech is going to be great, but I don't know how you do this for 90 minutes." Speaker Johnson shook his head in response to JD's comment and replied "The hardest thing was doing it during Biden when the speech was a stupid campaign speech."
By the time he had finished speaking Johnson had already lowered the live microphone away from their faces, no more of their conversation had been released.
Mike Johnson Maintains Decorum
During the President's address to Congress, Representative Al. Green (D-TX) stood up in protest of Trump and the Republicans as they moved to cut Medicaid funding. Rep. Green stood from his seat only a few minutes into the speech to shout "You have no right to cut Medicaid!"
The disruption did not go ignored by the rest of the chamber, other members of Congress countered Green's protest by chanting "USA" repeatedly to drown out his voice. As chaos erupted within the chamber Speaker Johnson warned that if the disruption did not end any members causing said disruption would be ejected from the Chamber.
Speaker Johnson asked Rep Green to take his seat and when Green refused to do so Johnson ordered for Green to be removed from the chamber. This is the only time in recent history the Speaker of the House has had a sitting member of Congress removed from the floor because of a disturbance.
