Two Teens Charged After Car Burglaries
Two teens have been charged with simple burglaries after seven car break-ins were reported. SPD used video and other evidence to charge the young men.
Corporal Angie Willhite of SPD released this statement about the charges:
"Shreveport Police Property Crimes investigators have jailed two men in connection with multiple vehicle burglaries in north Shreveport.
On March 13, 2020, between 3:30 a.m. and 4:15 a.m. multiple vehicles were burglarized in the Rosenwald Community. Seven reports were made but investigators have evidence that suggests many more burglaries took place in that neighborhood, during that time period. Detectives were made aware of the burglaries and immediately launched his investigation. They spoke with citizens, located surveillance video, and used other investigative means to identify a 17-year-old juvenile and 18-year-old My’Keon Arthur as the two perpetrators that committed the burglaries.
On March 19, 2020, investigators learned that Arthur was in Caddo Correctional Center on other charges. On March 23, 2020, the 17-year-old suspect was taken into custody. Both have been charged with seven counts of Simple Burglary. The juvenile was booked into the Caddo Parish Juvenile Detention Center and Arthur remains in Caddo Correctional Center.
Detective Lauzon with the Shreveport Police Property Crimes Unit encourages citizens to secure their vehicles and take all valuables inside with you at night. Practice the #9PMRoutine."
