[UPDATE] Hurricane Harvey Slams into Texas
UPDATE:
Hurricane Harvey slams into South Texas as a Category 4 storm bringing driving rains and blasting winds. Thousands of residents have been left without power. Several communities have been hit hard.
The powerful eye wall of Harvey reached land by 10 p.m. between Port Aransas and Port O'Connor, Texas, with winds of 130 mph, the National Hurricane Center said.
This the first Category 4 hurricane to make landfall in the US since Hurricane Charley in 2004.
First responders say some areas could be "uninhabitable for weeks or months."
Rockport Texas is one of the communities hit. Here's some of the tragic video of the damage:
Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner said anyone not leaving should plan to stay off the roads once the storm starts.
"People need to know, this is not a one-, two-day event and done," Turner said.
Hurricane Harvey is beginning to move inland near Port Aransas, Texas as a category 4 storm.
Forecasters say this is a life threatening storm.

The storm has maximum sustained winds of 130 mph. Conditions are worsening along the coast line. Fox News has reporters all along the coast watching the storm. Experts say this storm has been difficult to track because it has changed so dramatically.
Police have issued a warning in coastal towns, telling residents they won't be able to get in and rescue those who have ignored the warning.
