Webster Parish Back to School Bash Will Help Kids With Free School Supplies
Kids all over the Arklatex are headed back to school, and in some cases, that school supply list can be financially overwhelming for parents.
With that in mind, the Webster Parish School Board has joined with United Way of Northwest Louisiana and Minden Medical Center, to help as many children as possible with those needed school supplies with the annual Webster Parish Back to School Bash.
This FREE event will be held on Monday, August 8, from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm at the Minden Civic Center at 520 Broadway Street in Minden, Louisiana.
It's open to all Webster Parish students and each child will receive a bag full of supplies specific to their grade level. The first three hundred kids will receive a free t-shirt.
In a press release from the United Way, we're told, "Our goal is to ensure that every student has what they need in order to focus on their academic success as they begin the new school year."
Additionally, "Every child who attends the event will receive a ticket for raffle prizes. Prizes include bicycles, tablets, and gift cards. There will be bounce houses for the students and they will also have the opportunity to get a haircut for the new school year."
There will also be a variety of vendors available to help the students and their parents as they prepare to head back to school on August 9th. Last year, over 1500 children received school supplies at the Back to School Bash and organizers are hoping to surpass that number this year.
