Shreveport’s Queer Community Unites: What is Q-Prom?
As part of the Pride Month celebrations in Shreveport, Q-Prom is an event that welcomes all and invites everyone to a supportive event for the LGBT community of Shreveport. Q-Prom isn't an exclusive event, no matter the gender or sexual orientation it is a night of solidarity for the local community. Those in the loop already know, but for the rest of us, what is a Q-Prom?
Q-Prom is an event that the LGBT support group ShrevePride started in 2019 as a "safe place for people around us to interact, entertain, and have genuine fun." The goal was to create a place that openly welcomes people of all races, genders, and sexual orientations, something that the area lacked at the time.
The event is a party, or as ShrevePride puts it an "anti-prom." The idea of an anti-prom isn't new, it originated as an event put together by students who wanted prom night, basically done by their rules. The rules for ShrevePride's Q-Prom? Have fun and celebrate pride.

The 2025 theme for Q-Prom will be a 'Haus Party.' Attendants are encouraged to come dressed up as their favorite "queer era." ShrevePride has tickets available for Q-Prom on its website and is accepting volunteer support for the event.
This year's event will feature live music with food and drink available, the three things needed for every good party. The event takes place on Saturday, June 21st at Eleven Events in Shreveport.
