With illegal immigration expected to be the cornerstone of Tuesday night's State of the Union address by President Trump, WalletHub, the personal finance website, has attempted to determine the effect that immigration, both legal and illegal, have on all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

WalletHub considered 19 key metrics, ranging from median household income of foreign-born population to jobs generated by immigrant-owned businesses as a share of total jobs. According to those measurements, Louisiana ranks 46th out of 51 in their survey.

Interestingly enough, while WalletHub considers factors like "workforce rank" and "socioeconomic contribution, the site failed to measure - or even mention - the economic drain of illegal immigration on a state's social and entitlement programs, including healthcare, education, welfare, etc. The site also had no mention of the economic impact of crime ( court costs, law enforcement, imprisonment, et al) committed by immigrants in America illegally.
