But a median paying job isn't promised for many reasons, lack of merit out of school, underfunded hospitals, and an oversaturated workforce in an area are just a few.

WalletHub's study found that Louisiana is the fourth-best state when ranked by the opportunities and competition in medical fields, and is projected to be the third-best state by 2032.

Though Louisiana has good opportunities in the medical field, the greater medical environment of the state brings down the allure of the Pelican State. The same study named Louisiana as the 40th best for the environment in medicine, aka how difficult it is to work in medicine here. Louisiana's biggest issue with the medical environment here has to due with the cost of annual malpractice liability insurance, being the fourth most expensive in America.
