Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from September 15th to October 15th. It was enacted into law on August 17, 1988. September 15th is a significant date because it is the anniversary of the independence for Latin American countries Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. September 16th is an important day for Mexico because it was on that day in 1810 that Miguel Hidalgo declared Independence from Spain. There is a lot to celebrate

Several people took to their social media to ask why people were driving around with Mexican Flags. It isn't something you see every day in Shreveport-Bossier. Briant Garcia one of the Founders of 318 Latino, got together with several other Hispanics in the community and they wanted to show off their Hispanic pride in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month.
