Wiener Dog Races Are Back At Harrah’s Louisiana Downs Labor Day!!! (VIDEO)

I am so excited! The wiener dog races are back at Harrah's Louisiana Downs Labor Day!!! I campaigned for several years to get them to let my wiener dog run in their race but since he was a rescue aka not registered, I hadn't been able to enter Mikey. This year, there's a new sheriff in town and they gave me the okay to run Mikey Memorial Day... but I was out of town. BUMMER! But on Labor Day... It's on!!! Who's got the fastest wiener of them all! I do... if I can stand at the end with a treat... or cat poo... he's a big fan of cat poo, but we won't go into that. I'm pumped up! I can't wait to see all the dressed up pups! Come one, come all and get in that Super Derby spirit!

The wiener dog races are just one of the events that lead up to the Super Derby. Can you believe it's already Super Derby 32?!?!? The Super Derby is set to run Saturday, September 10th with all of the festivities you've come to expect! Post time is at noon and one of my favorite events of the day is the hat contest. Winners will be awarded in three categories: Spirit of Louisiana, Classic and Most Original. Start designing your hat today. Also, don't forget you can watch the race in style from the Sky Room for just $75 which includes buffet and a cash bar!

Join us at Louisiana Downs as these Dachshunds give their all to cross the finish line! Register your dog for a chance to compete in this year’s races. Bring the furry members of your family (cats and dogs only) to the Pet Day and show them off. There will be contests for cutest dog, best costume, and best trick! Save the date for great family fun!
All animals must be current on their vaccinations, play well with others, and cannot be in heat. Leashes are required at all times. Due to safety precautions, we ask that no one brings pit bulls, rottweilers, or other aggressive breeds on Pet Day. Nominal fee charged for some activities.
