Would-Be Robber In Alexandria Arrested For The 77th Time After Getting Stuck In Chimney
I feel movies like "Ocean's 11" have done a disservice to the stupider people in this country. Not everybody can be that smooth, sophisticated thief that out-thinks the soon-to-be-burgled. That was my first thought when I read the story of Matthew Mobley.
This modern day Ant-Man / Santa Claus wanna-be planned to shimmy down the chimney, and make off with some presents for himself. CBS 9 reports that then employees arrived at work, they heard such a ruckus that they called the Alexandria Police Department. Before the fuzz showed up, Mr. Not-Kris-Kringle was able to escape. A short chase ensued before he was caught, but not before he threw a brick at officers.
The craziest part of this story is, it's his 77th time to be arrested and booked into the same jail. At this point, he may have more seniority at the Rapides Parish Detention Center than half of the guards. It's good to see that the APD has a good sense of humor about the whole thing, as evidenced by this quote from the press release:
We did not locate a sleigh or any presents on scene."
No word if the business owner will file soot for the damage to the chimney.
