Despite being Forbes’ 24th most powerful celebrity, the fashion world didn’t seem too impressed with Adele‘s mainstream success. It turns out the U.K. issue of Vogue that the singer graces the cover of is one of the lowest-selling issues in the history of the magazine.

The Daily Mail reports that editor Alexandra Shulman revealed the news at the ToMax Talk ‘Fashion and Fantasy: What’s in Vogue and Why Does It Matter?’ “Adele is the most popular woman in the world, but one of the worst sellers we’ve ever had,” Shulman said. “I find there has to be a relationship with the person on the cover that goes beyond how they look.”

Adele shouldn’t feel too bad about the buzz killing statistic. Music artists haven’t been known to make issues of Vogue fly off the newsstands. In fact, the magazine’s top-selling issue may surprise you.

“Music stars haven’t sold at all well,” Shulman admits. “Our most successful cover was the millennium issue — which didn’t have anyone on it, but acted like a mirror so you could see your own reflection!”

It seems readers of Vogue are really vain. However, with millions of copies of Adele’s second album, ’21′, sold, millions in the bank and millions of fans around the world, we doubt this will put any damper on her mood. That’s what bad relationships are for.
