Ethan Couch, the Texas teen who killed four people while driving drunk and only received probation after claiming "affluenza", has been detained along with his mother in Mexico, according to authorities.

Couch and his mother Tonya, 48, disappeared in early December, prompting Tarrant County, TX officials to place him on the county's most wanted list and to issue a warrant for his capture.

Couch was driving under the influence and speeding in 2013, at the age of 16, when his truck went out of control and fatally injured a stranded motorist, along with three Good Samaritans who stopped to help.

During the trial that followed, a psychologist said that Couch was a spoiled rich kid who could not tell the difference between right and wrong.
