In an interview with Vulture, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin opened up about how he came to be involved with Angelina Jolie’s latest project, ‘Unbroken.’ (Coldplay wrote the song ‘Miracles’ for the film’s soundtrack; check it out above.) When asked about how Jolie first approached him, the Brit took the opportunity to work on his comedic chops.

“They kidnapped me,” Martin explained -- and as Vulture says, his conversation was delivered in a deadpan voice. “I got a message that said, ‘Meet in this undisclosed location. You’ll be blindfolded and picked up by seven ex-Navy SEALs’ ... so they kidnapped me, hit me over the head, and sprayed me with mace. When I woke up, I was in an office, and Brad Pitt was doing push-ups as Angelina Jolie was just sitting there with her crown on.”

Martin then goes on to explain the songwriting process as being something reminiscent of a music competition TV show, with Jolie playing the role of Simon Cowell. In fact, Martin’s effort came in second. “But the main guy chickened out,” he said.

While he never fully explains how the relationship started, it certainly isn’t out-of-this-world to think one of the world’s biggest actresses could somehow get a hold of one of the world’s biggest musicians, right?

‘Miracles’ is a brand-new tune from Coldplay found on the original soundtrack for ‘Unbroken.’ While the album is out now, the film will hit theaters on Christmas day.
