Ariel Castro Found Dead In Prison Cell

Ariel Castro, convicted rapist and kidnapper, was found dead in his cell at the Correctional Reception Center in Orient, OH, Tuesday night, reports 19 Action News.

Castro was serving a sentence of life plus 1000 years for kidnapping and raping Amanda Berry, Michelle Knight and Gina DeJesus and imprisoning them in his Cleveland home for over ten years.

The women escaped on May 6 after one of them broke through a door and called out to neighvbrs for help. Castro was arrested later that night.

JoEllen Smith of the Ohio Department of Corrections told reporters that Castro was found hanging in his cell at around 9:20 p.m. Tuesday night. Prison medics tried to save him, but he was later pronounced dead at OSU's Wexner Medical Center.
