First, the good news...

HBO announced Thursday at the Winter TCA Press Tour that the fourth season of "Game of Thrones" will begin Sunday, April 6 at 8 p.m.

Now, the bad news...

The network also announced that "Boardwalk Empire" will end its run after its fifth season, airing this fall.

"It has been an incredible honor to bring this powerful and groundbreaking series to our subsrcribers," said HBO president Michael Lombardo in a statement. "Terry Winter has created one for the ages."

"We're thrilled to get the go-ahead for a fifth season of "Boardwalk Empire," said series creator Terence Winter. "After much discussion with my creative team and HBO, we've decided to wrap up the series after such a great run and look forward to bringing it to a powerful and exciting conclusion."
