Bossier Sheriff’s Drug Take Back Day Is This Saturday
Bossier Sheriff's Office has wants residents to know that they can turn in their unused or expired prescription and over-the-counter medications for safe disposal on Saturday, April 30, from 10 til 2 at the Viking Drive Substation, 2510 Viking Drive in Bossier City.
Sheriff Julian Whittington says that the National Take-Back Initiative is part of the one-day effort in association with the Drug Enforcement Administration.
Deputies will accept prescription (controlled and non-controlled) and over-the-counter medications. The program is anonymous and citizens are encouraged to remove an identifying information from the medicine container. Intra-venous solutions, injectables and syringes will not be accepted.
According to the DEA, unused or expired prescription medications are a public safety issue that can lead to accidental poisoning, overdose and abuse.
