Bossier Sheriff’s Office Warns of Another Scam to Watch Out For

The Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office is warning residents of another scam that is circulating in our area. Don't let these thieves separate you from your hard-earned money! According to Bossier Sheriff's Office Detectives, these are phone scams and they are being investigated after several residents have fallen victim.

Let me explain. These criminal masterminds are contacting Bossier Parish residents and telling them if they don't cough up some dough, they're going to be in trouble with the law. Not cool. In each of these cases, the victim was told by the scammer that they owed money and that they needed to a local store and purchase a Green Dot or similar type of card to be used to pay the debt or fine. Make sure to stay vigilant and let your family members know not to fall for this foolishness.

Here's what the release from the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office had to say:

Detectives would like to remind the public that law enforcement agencies will not call you on the phone and request money in any form. If you receive a call from someone who says they are a law enforcement officer and ask for money, do not fall for this scam no matter how legitimate it may seem.

The Bossier Sheriff's Office, no law enforcement entity really, will ever contact you via phone demanding payment for a fine or debt. If you have been contacted by someone claiming to be with BPSO asking for money, make sure to call the Bossier Sheriff’s Office Criminal Division at (318) 965-3418.
