Brandon Had To Go To The Principal’s Office

My 8 year old son Deacon has been struggling in school since we moved to Bossier City.  The difference between the curriculum in Texas and Louisiana is HUGE!  When he first started, he tested well below the level that is expected of a 3rd grader in the Bossier Parish School District.  Because of this deficit, my son felt like a failure.  I did my best to build up his confidence, but he felt inferior to his classmates because he could not keep up!

That brings us to the meeting that Tracy and I attended yesterday.  The principal, vice-principal, Deacon's teacher, the speech teacher, and an intervention specialist.  W.T. Lewis has brought to bear the full power of the educational system to bear on this issue.  I could not be more pleased about the dream team of educators assembled to better Deacon's future.

Because of all of our efforts, especially Deacon's, the boy has been making GIGANTIC strides!  We are talking real progress.  Not only did he ace his multiplication test, his weekly progress test tested him at 3rd grade level!  This is a victory of the highest order, and a win that he desperately needed.  We still have a little ways to go before he has leveled up with his classmates, but with the team he has behind him and the steam he's picking up - he's going to blow past benchmark after benchmark at full speed!
