Dang! Not too long ago I posted about this event but it has been postponed til January. Here's the message I received:
Get your drink on for a good cause with the Krewe of Atlas... help raise funds for the dog park at Hamel's Memorial Park Saturday, November 5th 7-10pm at the Barnwell Center. Check this out... all of the beer and wines you'll be tasting feature an animal on the label!
In their traditional, non-traditional way, the Krewe of Atlas revealed their royalty for the upcoming 2012 Mardi Gras season with much fun and frivolity Saturday night at the American Legion in Shreveport. The Krewe of Atlas, known for it's diversity, hosted the Island of Shipwrecked Fools themed Coronation, where yours truly was crowned the Duchess of Lagniappe IV along hubby Keith, who isn't a duchess of course, he's the Duke of Lagniappe IV... Even though he looks quite nice in eyeliner!
Ain't no party like an Atlas party and the Krewe of Atlas is going to be throwing down tomorrow night starting at 7pm at the American Legion. The Royalty Presentation begins at 8pm!
I'm getting totally excited for the Krewe of Gemini's Coronation tomorrow night! My brother-in-law, Robby Woods, will be relinquishing his title as Captain and we couldn't be more proud of his auspicious reign! All Hail!

Here's the latest list of Mardi Gras events courtesy of Captain of Captains Doug Kochenderfer. Yes, we do have Mardi Gras in August... except I don't like to wear as many beads because they get hot, then you sweat and your neck turns green and purple;)
Every once in a while, people from outside of Louisiana ask me why we have Mardi Gras events in July. They think Mardi Gras is a week in the Spring before Lent. And it is, after a fashion... But we crazy people in the Bayou state celebrate all year long with soirees, Coronations, Bals, fund raisers to help our community, Flotilla and more!
Like to golf? Want to let the Good Times Roll all year long? Check out the Krewe des Ambassadeurs Golf Scramble! A good time will be had by all... Beads not included!
Some people think Mardi Gras is a short season before Lent and Easter... Oh, no!!! Mardi Gras activities happen year round here in the SBC and I'm just the girl to tell you about them! I love make up and I especially love MAC make up... I used to have a lot of fun dressing up and playing with new looks before I got all married and tied down...
