In the wake of the tragic mass shooting at a Colorado theater showing the latest "Batman" movie, "The Dark Knight Rises" wound up earning $160.9 million over the weekend, although slightly short of expectations.

Last week's No. 1, "Ice Age: Continental Drift", fell to second place, taking in $20.4 million, while "The Amazing Spider-Man" came in third, earning $10.9 million.
