I don't want to say that the David Motel in Bossier City, LA isn't nice anymore, but it certainly isn't 'new.' But is it still for 'nicer' people?

Do you remember the old David Motel for 'nicer' people on East Texas in Bossier City, LA?

My family moved to the Shreveport-Bossier City area in 1980 when we were transferred to Barksdale Air Force Base. Boy, was that a change from living in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan! Before we ever crossed the Louisiana state line, my dad was already talking about the shenanigans that went down on the Bossier Strip. Heck, our area was famous at the time for a nightclub called Cowboys that's notorious to this day for being known nationally as the 'herpes capital of the world.

The Texas Strip in Bossier was well known for its miles of neon-lit clubs and seedy hotels, including the David Motel and the nearby Beacon. The David Motel is famous for the sign out front saying, 'for nicer people.' Eventually, they dropped the 'r' and became lodging for 'nice' people. Too bad it's in a questionable area and has become somewhat of a local joke.
