If residents of Shreveport-Bossier City, LA hate living here so much, why are they still here?

Now, before you go all Karen on me, let me explain. I've lived in the Shreveport-Bossier City, LA area for the majority of my life. I've also had the opportunity to live in other places like New York, Michigan, Alabama, Ohio, and Iowa so I feel like I have a pretty good basis for comparison. I like living here in Northwest Louisiana for the most part. Sure, I'd love it if our roads were better and if we got a handle on our issues with crime, but the people are fantastic. Plus, you can't beat our food and festivals. But every area has its pros and cons, so what gives?

Recently, we asked the question, 'If money were no object, where in Shreveport-Bossier City would you live?' online. I was shocked by the answers because they were so overwhelmingly negative. Here are just a few responses to give you an idea.

David Knight
Neither

Doris Harrison
Getting the heck out of Shreveport/Bossier

Julie Annie
Tennessee. Need to leave Louisiana for better scenery.

Jennifer Dauzat
If money were no object, I would move far away from SBC!

Rebecca Murphy
The fastest way out would be Texas. And If $ is no object, the hill country!

Dee Dee Donna Soloman
If money were no object I’d definitely move out of Shreveport and to Arkansas.

Ellen Adrianne Chenault
If money was no object I would move FAR FAR AWAY!

Rene McDonald
The country surrounding it. With lots of acreage, a moat, a tree line, and an electric fence.

Dola Jene Godfrey
I would stay in Minden cause Shreveport has become a cesspool of crime. And from what I understand, Bossier is almost as bad they just cover it up better.

Leslie Fox
Shreveport is circling the drain

Lindsey Milligan Beggs
Just following In case anyone is ready to sell and move away! 😂 #realtor here 🙋🏼‍♀️ 👋🏻

So, if living in Shreveport-Bossier City, LA is so bad, why do people stay here? Family? Jobs? Lack of Means? Laziness? Thankfully, not all of the responses were negative.

Jennifer Myers
If I had to stay in the area I’d stay in Haughton. Just more in the country and I’d have tons of horses and doodles. But no! I’d prefer the country over either of those.

Pamela Kelley Kennedy
South Highlands where I live now. I really love this area.

Lashun W Garner
North Bossier. Close the lake.♡

Mark Crawford
Randle T. Moore house in Historic South Highlands.

Nicole Talbot Porche
South bossier for sure, anywhere as long as it’s south bossier ❤️

Laurie Lewis Mitchell
On a lake, probably Cypress.

Nicole Scarborough
Stonebridge
