Shreveport firefighters are investigating what might have caused a house fire in the 200 block of E. Herndon this morning.

Fire Department spokesman Jimmy Hall tells KEEL News the fire was reported just after 10 this morning, and crews arrived less than five minutes later to find flames and smoke visible from the home.

Hall says one of the homeowners was inside at the time the fire started, but got out uninjured. No firefighters were hurt, either.

The investigation is still underway, but it's been difficult with the amount of debris. Hall says the roof fell in at different points, so it could be several hours before firefighters are finished.

Hall says the home was heavily damaged. The fire is believed to have originated from a room in the rear of the house.
