For ten years, one Shreveport nightclub reigned supreme. Let's look at the very last night Phoenix Underground opened their elevator doors.

For those of you who know me, you know I've spent many years DJing at area nightclubs. For the last two years  and a half years, I've been DJing upstairs at Big Country, and I absolutely love it.

Before that, however, I was a resident DJ in the main room at Phoenix Underground. This place will always have a special place in my heart. In fact, every single weekend a bar patron asks me if I miss Phoenix Underground. Of course I do, there was nothing like it, and I'm not sure there ever will be.

I'll always remember the very last night at Phoenix Underground. There was a buzz all week about the upcoming Saturday, and anyone who was anyone at that time was certainly in the building. This place was JAM-PACKED from 9:00 AM - 6:00 AM. It was magical, the energy in the building under Spring Street was unlike anything I had ever felt before. It was Phoenix Underground's last hoorah, and we went out with a bang.

There might never be another nightclub in Shreveport like Phoenix Underground, but I hope that one day downtown Shreveport gets some of that magic back.
