E! News reports that former "American Idol" judge Jennifer Lopez will perform on the show's finale later this month.

The performance will take place on either May 15th or 16th when the two-night finale takes place.

Rumors began circulating last week that Lopez was in talks to perform on the show when word leaked out that producers were planning on having her return to the judges' table. The plan reportedly included getting rid of either Mariah Carey or Nicki Minaj (or possibly both).

An "Idol" source told E! News last week, "There will definitely be changes to the judging panel for next season. Fox thought the Nicki-Mariah contrast would make for ratings, but there is concern it is like nails on [a] chalkboard for middle-America viewers."

An "Idol" rep dismissed the rumors, saying, "This is just another ridiculous Idol judge rumor, likely started by talks of Jennifer performing on the finale."

An announcement will likely be made May 13 when Fox announces its fall schedule.
