John Mayer is no longer just waiting on the world to change, he's trying to take a more active part in it.  And Wednesday, the musician was in Shreveport helping paint one of several homes being built to support veterans.

It was a surprise visit for Mayer as he travels to New Orleans for Jazz Fest.  He was painting the home that was being built for Army veteran Cliff Malone.

"The funding for this project came through Bob Woodward foundation," explained Lee Jeter with the Fuller Center of Housing in Northwest Louisiana.  He says John Mayer made his way here because of Roger Waters' connection to the project.
